Setting up a wordpress blog

My daughter, Pips, is setting up a wordpress blog to celebrate her love of coffee! She is hoping to earn some pennies from Amazon associate selling, and Google Adsense, those little ads that let you display adverts for websites which are hoping to attract similar visitors to yourself.
This is a useful way to fund the costs of your web hosting, and if you work with the idea that you are writing for other sites as well as your own, then there is very little overhead to adding these two sources of income to a site.

This has been an established site previously, with feeds taken from Amazon. It has been re-written as a wordpress site for book reviews; perhaps as a central site for someone with half a dozen sites to refer people to as a central resource, reducing the overhead of reviewing the same book in half a dozen places. Reviews can drive traffic to Amazon, and as an affiliate you will receive payments when someone purchases after visiting your site.

We have once again bitten off more than we can chew. As a result we are offering www.fishing-and-shooting.co.uk for sale; the domain name we value at £250; it can be supplied with a wordpress website (not unlike this one, or any of the ones you can link to on the right) for a further £247; and hosting can be arranged for £3 per month, payable in advance for the remaining time we have prepaid for the domain name; this is currently 23 months, so would entail a charge of £69; we will discount that if the site is sold in April 2010 to £40.

Google Adsense – an Overview for Website Owners

Google Adsense is an offering from Google which allows website administrators to add relevent advertising to their site quickly and cheaply. There is no need for your business to market for advertisers, Google does this for you.
A quick overview of the process follows.
You have to have a Google Account. Type in www.google.com, hit enter; the page that comes back will display navigation options below the search box when you move your mouse over the page.
